Gruber/Vagias/Teubner (eds): Society’s Constitutions
Vol. 44 No. 1 (2024)The various contributions take current challenges caused or revealed by processes such as globalisation, climate change, the digital revolution or even the autonomisation of the various functionally differentiated systems of world society as a starting point to elaborate the theoretical and practical potential of the concept of "societal constitutionalism". This is a legal sociological concept developed to address constitutional problems that arise, on the one hand, outside the borders of the nation state in transnational political processes and, on the other hand, outside the institutionalised political sector, in the "private" sectors of world society. The various articles thus constitute important contributions to a highly topical discussion on the future of the concept of constitution in a highly fragmented world society.
